I do home day care for a living and have a new game for you
to try at home.
The only thing you need
is a working television or radio…
One day at the onset of the Obama administration, my four
year old charge and I were sitting around during naptime. I decided to watch the news in hopes of
lulling her to sleep. As luck would have
it, a live press conference was in session hosted by the president’s press
secretary, Robert Gibbs.
As he was responding to questions and evading concrete replies,
I noticed that he said “uh” whenever the answer was in the cloudy section of
clarity. To entertain my preschooler, I
said, “Let’s play the ‘Uh’ game! Every time
the man on TV says ‘uh’ you have to raise both hands in the air. Whoever is fastest to catch the ‘uhs’ wins.”
She eagerly joined in with me and I can tell you, our arms
were pretty tired at the end of the fifteen minute press conference. Now every afternoon, she begs me to turn on
the set to see if the “Uh” game is on and sad to say, we’ve been able to play
it all the time. She just loves that man. Who knew obfuscation could be such fun!
Wish I could say the same for what he is uttering. My little teammate asked me if he will always
be available to play the game because he makes her laugh so much and I replied
wistfully, “Hopefully only for the next four years!”
I think tomorrow we’ll turn on Chris Matthews and play the “Scream”
game!
